There is some steep, some rocky, and some steep and rocky terrain to the lakes Trailhead is at Chester Parking Lot. There is a new bridge, upstream of the old one, where “Snowdrift” snowshoe trail crosses Headwall Creek. Short but steep side slope before first lake Daffern V1 – 94

Go down from Vista Lake Parking to Vista Lake (and up at the end of the day!). Follow fairly steep trail up to Arnica Lake (5km). Continue along trail beyond the lake for .5km up to the highest rise on the trail, then down about 1.5km to Twin Lakes.

Baldy Pass 10km 570m

Typical Kananaskis climb to the top of the pass where you can look east and down into the Lusk Creek and Powderface area. Great views the other way too of the Kananaskis Valley. Bring icers. Can be icy in winter.  

Baldy Pass and Midnight Ridge, 12km 900m

Typical B1 hike up to the base of the last ascent to the top.  Then it’s a steep climb over big rocks. Most of us will stop before the last ascent while others may want to push on to the top. Bring gloves for this stretch too. Bring icers. Great views!

Baldy Pass to Barrier Lake 14km 700m

Daffern Vol. 1 #9, #2, #4A, #4 Baldy Pass parking lot to Baldy Pass, back to Barrier Lake by Baldy Pass north trail and Barrier Lake Forestry Trails

Baldy Pass to S Baldy 12km 875m (scramble)

Daffern Vol. 1 #9 & #11 Baldy Pass parking lot to Baldy Pass, south along the ridge for a few bumps. Short scramble section meaning you need to use your hands to hold on and pull yourself along in places. Bring gloves and icers. Great views
