Spencer Creek to scree slopes at base of Mt. Lougheed or Mt. Sparrowhawk. A good trail at a moderate grade leads into the dead-end valley between Mt. Lougheed (summits 2, 3 and 4) and Mt. Sparrowhawk. The lure is fine rock scenery and meadows below the spectacular north face of Sparrowhawk.
Trailhead is 4.2 km south of Driftwood day-use area (hwy 742) at the creek crossing. The trail you cross after about 350 m is the new High Rockies Trail. Do not turn either left or right at this junction but cross the HRT heading east. Return via the HRT trail to Sparrowhawk Day Use Area — turn south towards Sparrowhawk Tarns trail, then west at the junction to the Sparrowhawk Day Use area. The HRT will add ~2 km and 100 m to the return trip so keep this in mind when judging the timing of your return time.
