From the Sparrowhawk Day Use Area, cross the highway (742), go up a hill on the High Rockies trail spur to the junction with the High Rockies Trail (~750m). Take the middle trail at the junction up the hill toward Sparrowhawk Tarns. After ~600m (1.3 km from the highway) is the turn to Read’s Ridge. DO NOT TURN LEFT but continue straight for another ~4.5 km to the tarns. You must cross a large boulder field; 1 tarn on the left while several others farther down on the right.

Daffern V3 – 84

In June there is much more water in the lower tarn than later in the summer. Before arriving at the ridge overlooking the first tarn there are many Larches which would be showing their fall colours in mid to late September.
