This is our first ’22-’23 winter season ski/snowshoe trip and we are off to the iconic Lake Louise area in Banff National Park (a.k.a. our backyard!)

At present, we are limited to the Moraine Lake Road Trail and the Great Divide Trail for skiing. Snowshoers have a few more options, but, in some cases, icers are still all that is needed. Snow is in the forecast so we can expect to see more trails opening up soon.
Currently, both Moraine Lake Rd. and Great Divide Trail have been double track set and more snow is on the way. Upper and lower Tramline are groomed and may be track set by Thursday depending on snowfall. The high for Thursday is forecast to be -17 C so it is going to be quite chilly. Be sure to dress accordingly! The Visitor Centre is open for us to wait in the village for the bus at the end of the day.

Bus pick up is at Montgomery Community Centre Parking Lot.  Bus departs from Montgomery at 8:00 am sharp.

COVID Protocol

  • All people participating in the outing must be fully vaccinated. Stay home if you are not feeling well or have any COVID like symptoms. If you test positive for Covid after a bus trip, inform the Bus Coordinator who will ensure Club Members and all people on the bus are notified (without giving your name).
  • Masks must be worn when at the under-bus bins, and when on the bus (except briefly when eating a snack or taking a drink). Passengers are to remain in their same seat at all times except for the Day Leader or others conducting Board business. There is no trash disposal bin on the bus. Take home your own trash.

Hiking safely

Bear Spray and hiking poles MUST be stored under the bus, preferably labelled. There is a box for Bear Spray in one of the bins.

If you wish to join the outing, but drive yourself to the trailhead, please register with your choice of activity AND email the bus coordinator to ask them to move you to the ‘Car’ list.

Please ensure you choose an activity option before pressing ‘Register’. Click on the Location below to get more details of the hike and a link to a trail map.
