Bus departing from Montgomery at 8:00 am and Sheep River Library in Turner Valley 9:00 am. Those meeting the bus at the trailhead, Sheep Ranger Station, should be there at 9:15 am ready to hike at 9:30 am.
Limit of 55 people on the bus – priority will be given to Evergreens Members over guests.
BB: Trailhead Sheep River Park HQ Pit Toilets (Library closed until 10 am)
Pickup: Turner Valley Library
Bus dropoff/pickups: Sheep Ranger Station, Turner Valley Library
Will allow approx. 4.5 hours hiking time.
Note: the bus company has a Kananaskis Parks pass, so individuals on the bus do not need to have one for this trip.
Spikes/traction devices may be helpful.

A/B1 – Sheep – Long Prairie Ridge, Sandy McNabb Hills 12 km 500m EG. Leader – Hugh Powell
B1 – Sheep – Long Prairie Ridge, Pine Ridge, Macabee Loop 11 km 300 m EG Leader – Carolyn Ardell
B2 – Sheep – Long Prairie, Pine Ridge Loop 8.2 km 150 m EG
B2/C – Turner Valley to Black Diamond on Bike Trail 8 km 20 m EG
C – Sheep – Long Prairie Ridge Loop 6 km 150 m EG.
Hiking options will be offered for all hiking levels that have a leader and at least 3 other participants. Please contact Day Leader to volunteer to lead a group, or to request a specific hike in the area.
Note: If you wish to join the hike, but drive yourself to the trailhead, please register with your choice of hike AND email the bus coordinator to ask them to move you to the ‘Car’ list. Note cost per person travelling by car under discussion with Board and may impact fare charged on bus. Note that individual unsponsored / unaccompanied guests are expected to travel by bus.

Charter Bus Procedures – COVID-19 Protocol
- Stay off the bus if not fully vaccinated with both COVID-19 shots at least 2 weeks before the trip. Drive to the trailhead instead.
- Stay home if you are not feeling well or have any COVID-19 symptoms, or might be at risk in any other way.
- Passenger name, address, and phone number may be shared with Universal Bus lines to facilitate later contact tracing if necessary. Information will be destroyed after 14 days.
- By registering for the trip on-line, you are agreeing to abide by the Evergreen Club Policies and Safety procedures, as well as the COVID-19 Protocol. Sign in sheets will not be passed around.
- Masks to be worn throughout the time inside the bus. Masks to cover both nose and mouth. Exception is when being careful while taking a drink or eating a snack.
- Two metres physical distancing to be maintained wherever possible. (Physical distancing does not apply to members of the same household). This includes while boarding and disembarking.
Passengers are expected to enter, exit and manage their own belongings inside and outside the bus without engaging the driver. - Passengers are to deposit and retrieve their own gear from the vehicle’s baggage bins being very careful of physical distancing requirements. Good idea to have poles etc. labeled.
- The driver is required to wear a mask and gloves when engaging passengers outside of the bus.
- Passengers must use the same seat throughout the trip both going to and from the destination.
Passengers are to remain in their seats at all times except for the Day Leader and Transportation Director. - Bus washroom is not available except for emergency use. A washroom stop will be made enroute at a visitor centre if available.
- Passengers to bring their own masks, gloves (if desired), tissues, and hand sanitizer.
- There is no trash disposal bin on the bus. Passengers to take home their own trash and dispose of it safely at home.
- Disembarking starts from the front seats followed by the next rows in turn.
- Nothing to be passed around on the bus which means no binders with maps, no sign in sheets, no treats etc. (exception for cards)
- Bus fare will be collected by the Bus Coordinator or designate coming down the aisle with a bag. Each passenger will place their fare in the bag. No change will be given, so please bring the exact amount by cash or cheque.
- Bring your own radio and bear spray if you have them.
