NB CONSOLATION LAKE C option

Please note there are two short rocky sections on the trail, one at the beginning and one just before the first lake that some may find a bit of a challenge.  In total the rocky sections make up a small portion (200-300 m) of the 3 km trail to the first lake.  The section of boulders just before the first lake can be mostly avoided by walking close to the creek. The use of hiking poles can help assist with balance on these sections for those that may feel a bit unsteady.  But hikers should avoid using the hand loops in rocky terrain in case a pole gets stuck between rocks.

NB WENKCHEMNA PASS A OPTION

A : Wenkchemna Pass:  Parks Canada indicates: “This spectacular pass is exposed to avalanche hazard” in snowy conditions.  The agency also “recommends sturdy hiking boots” and indicates “hiking poles and route finding skills are essential” for this hike.

An assessment of the conditions will be made a couple of days before the outing to determine if this option is viable.  Alternative options may include: Wasatch Pass, a steep informal trail directly to the west and above Eiffel Lake (12km 600 m) or Sentinel Pass.
