Day Leader – Kyra Fisher

Bus Coordinator: Carolyn Ardell, ardell5@telusplanet.net 403-660-1825

NOTE: Ice Magic / Carving IS Cancelled due to COVID. This page was edited Saturday.

Lake Louise has lots of snow and it has been a few weeks since we were there, so back to Lake Louise for skiing, snowshoeing, and walking.  Weather forecast shows a little snow showers Monday & Thursday with negative temperatures, highs of -4 and lows of -10 for Thurday. For skiers, track conditions are shown on https://www.pc.gc.ca/en/pn-np/ab/banff/activ/randonee-hiking/etat-sentiers-trail-conditions. As of Friday 14 Jan, all trails were trackset and shown as Good except Lower Telemark shown as Fair.

Depending on conditions, it may be possible to do a lunch time 12:30 pm pick up at the Village but this will be decided on the bus by the Day Leader and the Bus Driver.

Snowshoe conditions look good, except for reports of trees blown down across trails. Highline Trail was seriously affected a month ago and still hasn’t been cleared. Bring your snowshoes and not just rely on your boots and ice grippers.

Remember COVID restrictions will be in force at the various usual hang outs of the Village Bakery, Chateau, Hostel.  The 2 cafes / coffee shops in the Village are only doing take out and don’t permit seating indoors, reportedly for economic reasons. The Visitor Centre is open for washroom use only and not to linger or warm up and definitely no eating or drinking.

Bus Fare $20; Bus cancelled if less than 30 registered on Bus

Cancellations after 6 pm on Tuesday will be NO-SHOWS and will have to pay the Bus Fare.
