This event is for B1 or B2 level hikers. Limit of 10 participants.
Participants to drive themselves to Elbow Falls Parking on Hwy 66. Get there in time to start hiking at 9:30 am.
12 Km return, 800+ m elevation gain, 5 to 6 hours estimated hiking time.
Plan to go to summit of Prairie Mountain on regular trail then return via West Ridge and drop down fairly steep trail through the woods to Prairie Creek Trail and back to highway. There may still be snow going down from the ridge and wet conditions at the bottom. If this route doesn’t seem viable, may return the same way we came, reducing distance by a couple of km.
Our hikes will align with Alberta Health COVID-19 recommendations, which change occasionally, but can be found at: https://www.alberta.ca/coronavirus-info-for-albertans.aspx ; Alberta Parks Guidance related COVID-19 can be found at: https://albertaparks.ca/albertaparksca/news-events/response-to-covid-19/
