New Day Leader – Eric Leavitt

Bus Coordinator: Gary Kerr gwkerr@mac.com, 403 891-0294

This is our first Official Winter Trip

UPDATE: 8:00 AM TUESDAY NOV 16

Conditions look great for Lake Louise. I just spoke with a Parks Canada person. She says they got 50cm of snow in the last few days. For skiers, Great Divide is now track set too and it may even be possible to ski down to the Village on the tram line. Track setting will need to be refreshed after a recent dump of snow but likely most trails will be groomed again by Thursday.

On the bus, we will ask for which skiers now want to do the Great Divide. If there are enough to do so, and if the road side pull off is suitable, we will have a drop off at the Great Divide trail.

Snowshoe conditions look good. Do bring your snowshoes and not just rely on your boots and ice grippers.

Remember COVID restrictions will be in force at the various usual hang outs of the Village Bakery, Chateau, Hostel. The Visitor Centre is open for washroom use only and not to linger or warm up.

Bus Fare $20; Bus cancelled if less than 30 registered on Bus

Bus departing from Montgomery only at 8:00 AM

Limit of 55 people on Bus – priority will be given to Evergreens Members over guests.

BB – Lake Louise Visitor Centre

Will allow approx. 5 hours of ski/snowshoe/hiking time. Bus dropoff/pickups: Lake Louise Village and Chateau Parking lot.

***Note: an up to date National Park Pass is required – do check your website profile to be sure your Park Pass information displays. (or pay $10 extra if you do  not have a pass).

Spikes/traction devices are recommended if you you intend to walk rather than ski  or snowshoe.

Our hikes will align with Alberta Health COVID-19 recommendations, which change occasionally, but can be found at: https://www.alberta.ca/coronavirus-info-for-albertans.aspx ; Alberta Parks Guidance related COVID-19 can be found at: https://albertaparks.ca/albertaparksca/news-events/response-to-covid-19/
